Default Issues With My B5

I have a 98 A4 2.8L FWD AT and I am having a few issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Automatic transmission is stuck in limp mode
-Looking for lower oil pan and gasket and an upper oil pan gasket for a tight budget
-while driving, my steering wheel does a short jerking motion to the right and I hear a loud click coming from the right wheel.
-and last but not least, is there any way to remove the upper oil pan without removing the engine. While removing the lower oil pan and gasket, I stupidly started tearing away at the upper oil pan gasket.

The dash lights for the 'PRND' is completely lit up all the time, and tiptronic doesn't work. Also, the transmission doesn't go into fifth gear. I was under the impression that this was limp mode.

You are right that is limp mode. You need to have it scanned with a Vag com to see what is causing it to do that.

Your clicking noise from the right front is a bad CV joint.

For a cheap oil pan check ebay. You can get a cheap gasket anywhere.

Thanks a lot 99A6. It's been tough for me to justify buying a VagCom and I don't know any other Audi owners in my area. I have heard that if I remove the cowl covering the Transmission Control Module and remove it and clean it up, that it could fix the problem. I have an extremely busy schedule everyday and I just seem to be falling further and further into problems with the car and not enough money to fix them. I was thinking that it was a CV joint problem, but thank you for affirming the thought. I found a oil pan for $166 on Prime Parts Superstore, but I will check out eBay. eBay is a scary place for me seeing as I've been screwed over more than once.

Just buy the vagcom cable on eBay and download the software free. For the CV joint, rebuild rather than replace the axle with an aftermarket one (there are issues with those). The transmission controller is in a black box under the carpet in front of the passenger seat - if cleaning it doesn't work, PM me with the number on the unit. I have four TCMs in my garage that are available.

I will be checking out the transmission controller before the holidays. I have no idea how to rebuild a CV Joint, so a little help there would be great, and I have no idea what the appropriate vagcom cable is for my car or which of the two software to get. I decided against getting a new oil pan since money is so tight for me, and decided to just weld a piece of metal over the existing crack.
