just bought a 1.8se
just bought a 1.8se 1997, now the guy i got it of told me he had the timming belt done last year, i have just changed the rocker top gasket and it has a timming chain at the back of the engine if im not mistaken, there is a chain at the back.
Can any1 shed some light on this for me?

To answer your question, the timing chain you saw when you removed the valve cover is what drives the intake camshaft off the exhaust camshaft. It is the belt that goes from the crankshaft to the exhaust camshaft that needs to be serviced every 60,000 miles along with some other parts in that area.

Looks nice, so peculiar to see RHD though! 
See if you can find out if the water pump was replaced as well, that is another service item that should be done when the TB is done. They can start to leak and you have to remove the TB again to get to the pump. If it wasn't done, and it's not leaking now, don't worry about it. Just something to be aware of.
