Default Key FOB?

Just bought an 01 b5 turbo. Think is pretty much all stock and clean.

Car only game with the vallet key. I would like to get the remote FOB. A dealership wanted 235 get the key, cut it, and program to my VIN number.

Any ideas of a cheaper way of doing this? I know blank FOB keys sell for like 20 bucks online.

Yeah you can get an excalibur key on ebay for like $20 but since the keys are laser cut I'm pretty sure the dealership still has to cut it.

some guy posted a thread awhile back:

https://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-...e-keys-171268/

in there he had links to two ECS products:

Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Interior > Key Fob > ES#248875 Remote Keyblade - Cut To Your Vehicle. - 4D0837246BINB

Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Interior > Key Fob > ES#248873 Remote Transmitter (Key Fob) - 4D0837231P01C

ECS will actually cut that key for you, but you still need to program the fob.

Plus I think there are other guides out there on reprogramming the fob. Use your google-fu

Thank you gentlemen!

I am def going to invest in the FOB. 250 bucks is NOT worth it to man, i would rather be old school and unlock at the door at that price. 140 or so seems like a much more realistic price.

Now lets hope the DIY reprogramming works!

Check around at local dealers first. My dealer offers a new, cut key with fob for $135. It may save some time and headache (then again, it may not).
