I have a 99.0 A4 with a model 4D0837231T transponder; it has two buttons and a panic button. If bought a 4D0837231P/E transponder with three buttons would it work? I mean other than the trunk button, obviously.

 

From what I've read, it should work.

 

FWIW, I've never been able to get my 3 button remote to work properly. Either it would only lock the doors, or only unlock them. Couldn't get it to do both. Tried multiple pumps and different software codings. Next thing I'm gonna try is a 2 button.

 

Did yours come from the factory with keyless entry? Just thinking out loud, if yours didn't, I wonder if that would make a difference.

 

Yeah, used to have an 8L0 862 257B pump (for non flip key remotes), I swapped to an N pump and have been trying to use a 3 button flip key with mixed results.
