The ring of light around the cigarette lighter and the light inside the ashtray is not working, so I checked the fusebox and discovered (to my surprise) that there are about 10 fuses missing ?!
The one for the cigarette lighter is there however, but perhaps this is not the same fuse as the one for the backlight?

In any case I am slightly confused that so many fuses are missing. Any comments? [&:]

 

Grab your owner's manual, find out what amp rating the missing fuses are, and put new ones into those slots. Who knows what might start working

 

Some slots in the fuse panel simply arent used. Buy yourself a Haynes manual ($20 at the AutoHell) and it will describe all of that stuff for you. It has every single slot listed, as well as rating and use for the slot. Empty slots become full as you move away from the base model car and add stuff like tiptronic, 2.8L etc.
