My code reader stated that the definition for the P0730 code is "Incorrect Gear Ratio".

UPDATE:
After filling the transmission with fluid with the only two quarts I had at the time, the car is shifting flawlessly and the wine of the trans. pump has disappeared. I do have a big transmission fluid leak. So I believe the only problem with the car is a major leak causing the slipage. That is great news. Now I dont have to spend $1000 on a used transmission and spend a few days installing it.

It's probably going to end up being the same place JC61990's leak was. The front seal for the input shaft or w/e its called. Should be a cheap fix though just a little time consuming.

I looked underneath to see exactly where the leak is, and its definitely not near the transmission pan. It is near the passenger side front wheel. I believe it may be the seal for the half axle as well. I am very happy, I just bought a bad *** B5 for $1000 when its worth $6400!! Sweet!!! I plan to fix this problem tomorrow. Do you know if the seal is available at most part stores? Or is this a dealer only part?

Remove the seal and bring it to Napa the nice people at the desk can try and match it up or find out for you if they have it.

Probably dealer only. I'd be super surprised if napa/autozone/etc. had that in stock.

Psh Napa has everything! lol. They may not list it in there computer but they keep a large bulk assortment of seals and they can measure yours and find a perfect match 9/10 of the time.
