Why buy Napa when seals from the dealer are guaranteed to fit, aren't made in China, and don't cost that much to begin with? Avoid the headache, buy from the Audi Parts counter.

I will buy from the dealer if no other stores carry it. Does the volkswagen dealer carry audi parts? Volkswagen is much closer to me.

They should. It should be the same part as on a B5 Passat. Also a Napa seal will be just as good... Napa isn't on the same level as Autozone and Advanced Auto.

Bad News. I was finally able to get underneath the car to find the leak. It seems that the leak is coming from the inside of the trans, where the torque converter is. I know that there is some kind of a shaft seal in there. I plan to pull the trans out tomorrow. I am pretty sure that the transmission can be pulled without pulling the motor, can anyone verify this? The Good News is that I wont have to replace the whole transmission. Thats a lot of money saved, and an even greater deal than originally thought
