Connect 12v to the coil connections in the relay.

r8ders, if the ECU is retuned and the SAP is coded out, you'll pass because there's nothing in the ECU any longer that tries to read it. As for incorrect flow codes, look into the secondary O2 sensors - they're used to monitor flow via the air/fuel mixture after the cats. If the pump works right, you'll get no codes. If its weak or failing, the mixture will be rich. The secondary O2s will see this and report the codes. Also, the shop-vac jet engine roar indicates that the pump bearings are shot and the pump's mechanicals are failing.

Thanks a lot. I had an “EPC” come on first on the instrument panel and then after several days “CHECK ENGINE” light would come on as well with code “P0411” stored. Secondary Air Injection Pump was out therefore I went ahead and replaced it with another one I purchased at a local salvage yard. Now when cold (morning) pump runs for about half a minute and shuts off. Sometimes after a few minutes it goes gets turned back on again and goes off in less than 30 seconds. I cleared “EPC” and “CHECK ENGINE” lights and every think was fine for 4 days. Now I have the same warning lights come on again and am not sure what to do next.
Do you think Secondary O2 sensor is the problem now? If so, why don’t I get a code for O2 Sensor failure instead of “P0411” and “EPC”?

No longer have the 01 A4, traded it in for a 11 A4. Try checking if one of the lines from the SAP is cracked. From what I remember, there is one large molded plastic air line going over the intake manifold that got brittle and cracked near the accordion flex part that caused the coding on our old A4. I think it was a $70-$90 part to replace

CONGRADULATION!!!
It seems like you haven’t had enough of Audi’s yet. Mine the 2000 A4 Quattro is starting to give me problems. Perhaps time to up-grade.
