3. I've always been really into Dodge, then Subaru. My boss used to have an A8, also a 97 like my A4...and that thing was pretty amazing, since I've ridden in that car so many times I've grown to like Audi's a lot...the deal was pretty good on this A4 so i decided to go for it

after test driving several cars the looks handeling and layout of the car just said buy me!

several hondas intergras even some bmws.

was driving a 94 mustang fox body with the crappy 4 banger pinto engine in it before this, the amount of snap and handeling in my a4 quattro 1.8t is just amazing. all my freinds love the car as well.

 

i just got a 96 audi a4 2.8 fwd. i love my audi so far, this is officially my first car i've ever owned. i just got it about a week or so now, and finally registering for some audi forums. i decided to get this car cus of the price, low miles and the luxury. plus, out of my crew, i'm the only one with a euro, specifically an audi. all my homies got either honda, toyota or nissan. before getting this car, i was looking into integras or civics. i wanted a gas efficient car that was easy to mod in the long run. but coming across my audi with only 83k miles, clean title, bone stock, with all the maintience done to it like new timing belt, water pump, oil pan, head gasket, etc. for only $4200, i couldnt let the chance slip by. a plus was that i purchased it from a mechanic, so anytime i have something wrong with it, i can just head back to his shop n get stuff done. only thing is, a couple days in, oil started leaking. took it back to the original owner, n he said that the oil might be from the old oil pan. n told me to take it back in case of continuous leaking. so im heading back to his shop soon when i have time. also, the steering is making a nasty noisy chirping sound whenever i turn. i figured its the power steering fluid? i checked and its low. im going to refill the psf and see if it still makes that sound. if it does, anybody know what i should do? in some forums ppl said it might be the power steering rack or something like that? i rly dont know.. other than that i love my Audi!!

 

We helped our 17 year old son buy his first car about two months ago, a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 5-Speed. Current squawks:

• Significant oil leak; I haven't dug into it yet, but it looks like its from the right cylinder bank. The leak wasn't at all bad when we bought the car, but now its dumping roughly a quart of oil on the ground per tank of gas.
• Bad left rear shock which moans and complains especially when it's cold out (it was 11°F this morning when I took his car to the bus-stop and it was really noisy).
• Exhaust leak.
• Needs an alignment.

We/he really likes the car, especially as he is a snowboard instructor at a local ski hill and this car is tenacious in the snow.

Super classy, mine is pearl white! Great reviews minus the expensive repairs costs, but hey - what can ya do?

Hey everybody! I found this forum last night looking for answers as to why my oil light comes on when the car's cold. So here I am!

My car:

1996 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 V6
Manual trans
Dark blue/tan leather
A little over 145k miles

Do you like your new audi?

I love this car. It's got great throttle response, good handling, and is just a quality vehicle all around. It sucks for gas mileage in the city, though.

Since December 2011.

Why did you decide to buy one?

I had a 98 VW Passat, and in the course of work one night (I am a delivery driver) I totaled the car. Two weeks later, $4500 cash in hand, I found the car at a little used dealer around here and snapped it right up!

Was there another vehicle you were thinking about before you bought the audi?

I looked at a lot of cars before I bought this one. I even looked at another A4, but it was an automatic and I am a firm believer that if you like driving, which I do, you should own a manual. None of the other cars I looked at were in as good a shape or quite as pretty as my A4.
