New A4 owners check in
Well , sold the 2001 A4 quattro sedan 1.8 turbo with 157k, and bought a fixer upper 2000 A4 quattro avant with the 2.8 motor. Has 125k and only 2 previous owners. Had a wicked parasitic battery drain when I bought it and thanks to this forum, checked the factory nav system and found a bad nav unit with corrosion where the wiring pins are. Ripped out the nav unit and parasitic drain disappeared. Getting the ABS module rebuilt this week and putting in new front brake pads. This car has really nice leather seats and no dents, so looking forward to bringing it back into top shape.
1).Hate to Love
2.)6 Months
3.)Saw it on CraigsList for 1700 dollars when the blue book was about 5500 because it had two smashed passenger doors, smashed passenger fender, broken headlight with no bulbs and cut wiring harness, bad cat, ect. ect. I liked the awd and the fact it is turbocharged, its a stick, 1.8t tunability, support community(which until now i was just searching not posting). I wish I knew it didnt have forged pistons though, sigh.

Hey Gents (and Ladies too!) Just checkin in here at AudiForums. I am currently driving a 2001 A4 quattro 2.8 which belongs to my cousin. They are thinking about getting rid of it at the end of the summer and I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to become the new owner. So if ya'll would think some happy AUDI thoughts for me it would most definitely be appreciated!! The car has some issues which I will search for answers about before asking questions. Glad to be here!

I have 2001 2.8 Quattro as well. Awesome car. Here are some issues to watch for: timing belt/water pump should be replaced by 105k; trunk power door lock pump may need to get replaced; engine gaskets may need to get replaced; power window regulator/motors may need replacement.
Otherwise, the car is a joy to ride.

NEWBIE on the loose... We just bought a 1998 A4 (non turbo) for my daughter. Rebuilt motor sounded great on paper but the car have a few lingering issues that I plan to engage the fine folks from this site about.
I'm not new to forums...I've be known to participate in a few others so I know how helpful you all can be.

1) Yes I like it know, I will love it in a month or 2
2) Less than a month
3) It had almost every thing I wanted
4) Yes I wanted a WRX or a GTI. I am very glad I went with the A4 instead.
I bought a High mileage 2000 A4 1.8T quattro that needs some work. So far I have done a wheel bearing, and I have had ECS flash the ECU. In the next week I will get the new wheel bolts for new rims and rubber and possibly another wheel bearing.
I also need to put in a new clutch. Any suggestions?
