New A4 owners check in
i'm ready to pull my hair out. Bought my 98 a4 quattro 11/2015, not knowing what a mess i was getting myself into. long story short tranny pump bushing failure day 1. while dismantling car I realize this 1 particular car is not equipped with abs even though that feature is suuposed to come standard, so do i really even have a quattro? research done, how can i have awd with no abs? no abs = no edl. no edl no left-right slip control. wtf?!?
Hello All,
I just picked up a 98 A4 for my younger sister-in law. Has almost 190k on the car and 60k on the engine.
It is a little rough around the edges, but a decent driver.
I am grateful this forum is here because the car must hav 14+ error codes.
Look forward to getting some help.
Thanks

I think I will, only driven it twice, once onto a trailer, once down the road a 1/4 mile and back.
Owned it 1 1/2 months.
Wasn't looking for a car but a friend said he was selling one and I got excited.
Nope, wasn't looking for anything.

So, I'm brand new to Audi ownership, and given this car needs work, I figured I'd join a forum. Here's the car:

It's a '99 1.8t 5 speed car, I paid $1200 for it, it's a bit of a project.
1: I do quite like this car. It's a damn sight nicer than my '94 Ford Escort, and manual transmissions are fun.
2: About 4 days now.
3: I honestly did a lot of research on here and other places. I was wanting something Manual, AWD or RWD, and preferrably Turbocharged. Oddly enough, the Audi is going to be cheaper on insurance than my Escort econobox.
4: I was considering a Miata or an E30 BMW. I figured the Miata was too small, plus people wanted waaaay too much for extremely high mileage examples. The E30 was also way out of my price range unless I bought one sans engine and transmission.

2001 s4 quattro 2.7 v6 biturbo
1. So far I love it.
2. A little over a month.
3. I needed a good car fast, and it was the nicest one I found in the time frame I had.
4. I was a honda guy. I was looking for an accord or civic and stumbled on the audi.
This is the first time I have done any type of forum. The CEL came on with p0421 and p1131. After reading the forums I have figured out what they actually mean. I am a complete noob when it comes to audi. I knew a guy who owned one about 15 years ago. That's as far as my audi knowledge goes. And boy do I have questions. Is there a site I can on or a way to ask questions without starting a thread or angering someone if it's a question that has been asked before?
I see a lot of discussions about the b5 s4 2.8. Is this the same for the b5 s4 2.7? Questions like that. If anyone can help me out I would be ever greatfull.

Do you like your new audi? yes 1998.5 a4b5 2.8 quattro w/ sports package
How long have you owned it? like 3 weeks
Why did you decide to buy one? wanted to learn manual and found this one on CL for $1200
Was there another vehicle you were thinking about before you bought the audi?
Manual civic
Its a 2998.5 a4. Theres a cold air intake on it that was there when i bought it. Dont know much else about it but I'd like to make it fast. What do? I'm aware it doesnt have as much potential as the 1.8t but theres gotta be something i can do.
anyone have any thoughts on this?
