I had a Passat the previous car. I like my new to me 99 A4 2.8 better so far. I’m just scared to death driving it until i figure out what’s been done to it and what it needs. This forum is very helpful. More helpful than my local Audi dealer. I know it has a small oil leak somewhere, AXEL BOOTS POSSIBLY, Engine mounts. And the climate control is stuck won’t adjust, radio on safe mode factory code won’t work. But brakes, tires, front end, exhaust all new. I paid $700 for the car so i don’t mind fixing it up a bit. I love the drive of the car, and looking forward to the Quattro this winter.
1) really like it so far, its something different for me
2) 3 months now
3) bought it for the price. The lady wanted a 100 bucks for it. It wasn't running when I bought it the cam position sensor went bad and she didnt know anyone to work on it. I drive this when I park my duramax for the winter.
Hello all. Thank you so much for all the help you have provided over the years. I've found a lot of solutions on here and finally joined today. Driving a 01 A4 with 215k on it. ATQ motor up to this point has responded well to all the fixes I've done under the shade tree. Got a (maybe) big problem now. A lower heater hose blew in town and I limped it back to the house. (I live in Santa Fe, NM). The car got quite hot. I pulled the front of the motor apart to replace the thermostat, fan clutch, fan controller, and other aged hoses. When I took the timing belt off the right pulley rotated A LOT (maybe 15 degrees). I have replaced this belt before, and thought I knew the procedure. Crank at TDC, popped the pulleys off, rotated the cams to where they should be, and put everything back together. Car runs, but there is a lot of racket coming from under the right rocker cover. Any and all input is gratefully accepted.
Got mine as my first car for 3200$. It was on Kijiji for a few months and nobody bought it I imagine because it was in the snow in the pictures, but it had 114,000kms(70k miles)! So I texted the guy and after all the months of no interest he said someone was coming to get the car the next day, so I felt I had to ask if I could see it that night, and he said yeah I guess. So I went and after giving it a thorough rundown I knew it was the one, very little rust, beautiful beige leather and black interior. After looking all around the car it looked super good, there was also a full set of service records, it had less than 30,000kms put on it in the last 17 years and was maintained regularly the years before, I felt so damn lucky and I gave him 500$ and wrote up the bill of sale to make it final. I realized how especially lucky I was when I went to go pick it up the next day the guy I was buying it from told me that the guy who was supposed to be coming to look at the car called right after I left the night before, and tried to buy the car over the phone. Super happy I got it, I'm a massive fan of rallycross so I wanted a Subie or an Audi for the awd, and glad I didn't have to do Subie headgaskets as all the affordable ones need. The car is super solid, runs and drives great, the 5 speed feels great and the awd works amazing on the gravel roads I live on. The 2.8 V6 friggin rips. I can't seem to upload a photo but the color of the body is melange metallic, probably gonna repaint it eventually but the stock color goes well with the white leather interior. I've been in these forums to troubleshoot an o2 sensor which I fixed as well as a tank vent vale issue I'm still diagnosing. Glad to be posting here now. Cheers!
We Bought this car about 2 months ago ..the car was at one time modified with a Supercharger kit and has other modifications..fuel injectors ...blah blah blah ...my issue is my boy was driving it and came to a stop sign and went to put it in gear it went in gear and he said he heard a clunk and saw a puff of smoke ...what in blue bell hell???
Celica All Trac Turbo while not the hottest in the world are quite sweet. Until the 143mph ticket or rolling into a 40mph corner at 110. Then it burned to the ground one day on the way to town. ( Just got an a4 tq with the electric gremlin for 500. No where near as quick as the Celica but not bad with excellent handling too. Turbo doesn't kick in till 3800rpm, is that normal?
[QUOTE=auditech79;1253603]Just wanted to see how many of the B5 forum are new members. The demographic of audi ownership is changing as the prices are more in the reach of the younger generation.
Questions to answer:
Do you like your new audi?
Yeah, its not the best one out there but it's mine
How long have you owned it?
About 5 months , it's been doing pretty well
Why did you decide to buy one?
when I saw the platform, I knew I need one besides my b6 and b7.
Was there another vehicle you were thinking about before you bought the audi?
My a4 has the v6 I was looking for the 4 cylinder 1.8t whichHas way more mods available sadly 😤
Hi all, I moved to Canada 4 years ago from my home in the Republic of Ireland. My friend had secured this 1 owner 160k B5 manual 5speed for me and i've loved it since. Bilstein sport shocks going into her this weekend
