Okay so my girlfriend just bought a 98 Au di A 4 Quattro with 2.8 and auto tranny for 700 bucks couldn't pass it up. Now my problem is check engine lights on airbag lights on in and the brake light flashes when the reservoirs plugged in... oh yeah and I have 10 days to get it inspected. I don't have a vag-com, but I do have an OBD 2 connector. Car throws OBD 2 codes 1476, 1136, 1138, and 1250. I know 1 of them is the little wire on the sending unit but the tank is full right now so that will get fixed later this week. Not sure what to do about the airbag light though. If anyone knows where to start with any of this any and all help would be much appreciated.

 

Ou need a vag com to clea the airbag code no matter what. The most
Common air bag problem is the seat connections. There's a fix in the DIY section.

 

Ok where is the best place to get vag com from for a decent price? And also does anyone have any ideals on the obd2 code fixes? I found the list of what they mean but not sure where to start on the lean codes or the vacuum code and assuming the fuel level code is the wire on the sending unit in the tank. And also can the abs module come off any other cars seeing how there are very rarely any in the bone yards here in upstate ny. Thanks

 

i will be checking for a vacuum leak this weekend but does anyone know if the old either trick will work or do i need to go have it smoke tested?
