Try setting the receiver to LO as opposed to DX- instructions are in the radio portion of the owner's manual. Who listen's to AM anyway? You want talk radio- get SIRIUS.

I do not have the factory radio manual. How do you change LO and DX. From what I can tell the antenna amplifiers are only for FM. Anyone else have a suggestion.

Loss of AM is the first sign of antenna failure. Short of that it would have to be an issue with your head unit and with no info on that my guess would be as good as the next guy walking down the street.

The head unit is the stock bose symphony radio. I have found 4 antenna amplifiers and a black box that all the wires go to.

I found the problem, the cable from the black box to the AM amplifier under the driver side D pillar is bad. Now I need to find a new cable, I will look for someone parting out a 2000 A4. By the way the two amplifiers under the rear deck lid are for FM, then there are two more behind the D pillars. This is for a bose symphony stereo.
