Noise when heater on

Noise when heater on
I notice when I put on the heat on I hear a chirping/squeeking noise coming from the engine area, like a belt or something. The funny thing is when I put it on the ECON button the noise stops, when I turn the ECON button off it starts again.
Is this a pulley or compressor issue?, if so how hard is it to replace.
For now I'm running heatr on ECON to avoid the noise, let me know.

Same on my 2.8. If the Econ is on but the AC compressor isn't running, I get a noise from the AC clutch area. Turn off the Econ in the winter and its solved. I bought it at 93K miles, I just turned 200K yesterday so it it's like mine, don't worry.

The reason the sound goes away, when you press ECON, the AC compressor is turned off, so the AC belt isn't being used. Its not normal, it needs to be taken care of, not ignored. It doesn't need to be done, right away or anything but something to keep in mind, say when you're about to get a timing belt done, be sure to replace the AC clutch belt, too.
I never hear any squeaking when i turn on my suppressor by turning the ECON button off.

Yea, no AC belt on the 2.8. It's all off the serp belt. Not sure about the OP's problem, but I've had two serp belts in the last 100,000 miles and it did not affect my problem. Mine is all about the AC clutch but doesn't seem to be a real problem.

My 1.8 has a chirping/squeaking noise behind the dash that I have determined is the hvac fan. manually change your fan speed on the hvac unit when you hear it just to eliminate that as the potential problem. granted, a belt squeak is much louder than a fan squeak, from outside of the car, anyway. I'm surprised your AC compressor comes on in the winter time even without ECON pressed. the compressor does run with defrost on.
