Hey, I own a 98 A4, and was wandering do I necessarily need to change the housing for the headlights (therefore getting ecodes). Or could I just put in the HID bulbs? If I need to get the ecodes what would be the cheapest place to get them?

No you will need new housings. The ones in your car (2 piece right?) will just blow all the light everywhere and blind on-coming drivers.

Dig through the most recent few pages of posts and you'll find a thread about pics of HIDs in OEM housings. There's good info there and I put some pics in there as well.
