Default Occasional Black Smoke

Hello people,

I have an Audi A4 1999 1.8T Quattro and have noticed that occasionally black smoke will shoot out, it will only shoot out for that one pull. After that it goes all normal. Sometimes once the car is just started, the first few revs, some smoke will come out. The smoke shooting out is kind of unpredictable, I haven't yet figured out if there's something I can do to force the black smoke.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

is it black, or blue? black is generally un burnt fuel. whats done to your car? if its stock, i would more assume it was blue. blue is burnt oil. could come from multiple things. turbo going, leaky rings, other misc things in the head leading to oil entering the combustion chamber.

The smoke is black, the car has an exhaust and an aftermarket DV (similar to the Forge one). I have also put a K&N filter part no. RU-1520 to replace the factory air box and get a bo sound.

The turbo is fine, I constantly hear it whistle, boost feels like its always felt. With the new DV, boost kicked in a bit quicker, is stronger and holds better for the following gear. Nothing wrong with turbo.

Probably just unburnt fuel, I wouldn't worry a ton about it. Mine smokes occasionally but I don't have a cat either
