Question plz help!!!!!!!!!!!! 2.8 30v head teardown!!!!!!!!!!!

i have a 98 a4 awd 2.8 30v 5 speed

I got off a red light punching it and went up to 6200 rpm, when i was going to shift into 2nd the engine shut off, i tried starting it nothing only the crank turned. took the front end off and and noticed that the timing belt had snapped. put on a new timing belt, aligned the marks and i had no compression. so im thinking bent valves or something. i was told that the car had a rebuilt engine but the guy seemed kind of shady, is there anyway to verify numbers or something? the odometer reads 207,000
my question is what i should do...should i buy a another motor, take off the heads?(which i have no idea how to do) is their anyway u can show me step by step on how to take off the cylinder heads plz.....thanx!

if anyone can teach me step by step ill be more then happy to send $$$ via pay pal!!!........ I bought the car, had it for a month 1/2 (best month of my life ) then this happened, its been in my garage for 8 months now.




i pressure washed the front of the block, it had alot of oil sludge

ok best advice i can give is find a set of used heads or a used engine. in my experience rebuilding them is almost always more money. and you have to go oem on parts for the head. last engine i did i used trw valves because they were a little less expensive and one snapped and put a hole through a piston. the way you have everything tore down right now is good.. makes it easy with the bumper off. where are you from. taking the heads off isn't that hard but if you want step by step instructions you might need more than just me posting something.

Why do you guys who aren't mechanically inclined and in your own words "have no idea", "need a step by step guide" or "for the life of me" insist on doing your own work? How about just take the damn car to a professional who knows what they are doing! I'm sorry but if you need a step by step guide to pull a head and do the work you shouldn't be anywhere near your engine.

I have to agree - pulling heads and other in-depth work is something to build up toward. Don't make something like that your first job. Start with tuneups and such, and work up toward bigger projects - replacing heads involves a full teardown of the timing system, pulling the intake manifold, replacing a TON of secondary parts and hoses, etc, and there's a lot of know-how that you need for setting the positions of various parts before you even start.

Have this done by someone. If you're near NY, I can do it for you. If not, there are others around the nation on here who work on these car's and would be able to help.

I just spent the last two days rebuilding my heads and it was not fun or easy. These heads were about twice as hard as any other car I have done. Makes a Honda head look like small block Chevy. With 30 valves to deal with it takes forever to do. The intake valves are very hard to get at. I felt like someone building a ship in a bottle had to use tweezers to place the valve spring keepers. If I had it all to do over again I would have just got some used heads.
