Default Possible lowering problems

I have a 2001 A4 1.8Tq and I just purchased a set of V-maxx coilovers. I have the stock 15" wheels and I want to get rid of the monster truck look. How likely is it that my control arms will go bad because I lower my car? I hear this can happen. Does this just mainly happen when people hit potholes and things like that or can it just happen simply because I lowered the ride height? I am not an aggressive driver and don't corner fast or anything like that. Thank you guys so much in advance! I've learned so much from you all so far.

Lowering a car will put at least some kind of stress on the suspension. I'd say be planned on having to change them sooner but not a huge amount worse! I'm lower on Vmaxx and <3 it
