Well, I really screwed up this time. I bought a palm iiic with pro diag (vag com for palm pilots), now called vad mobile, from a guy on here called remembertofocus. Its worked great for years, and I had a backup of the palm so if the battery went dead I could restore it. Well two years later, and two computer reformats later, the damn battery died on my palm, and I dont have any activation keys or the backup... I tried to send an email to vad mobile and I got an undeliverable message back (ill try calling them tomorrow), I sent remembertofocus an email on AIM, he told me he could restore it if the battery ever died, hopefully he will follow through, somehow Im thinking I wont be so lucky.

 

And if it doesn't work out, get an obd2 cable on eBay, download Vagcom for free on your laptop, and you're still in business.

 

Yeah what is lost when you use the free version?

 

Did some messing around with my cable connected to my laptop. Ive tried various versions of vagcom in windows 7 and windows xp and all I can connect to is engine, radio and HVAC. The two modules I need to connect to wont connect. When i try to connect to ABS, the abs light will come on, it does its three beeps, then shuts off, vag com retries a bunch of times and the abs light keeps coming on then shutting off, and it finally gives up. When I try to connect to the airbags, it says it failed and I need to turn the car off, and keeps repeating that every time I retry...

 

Do a standard scan for codes and let's see the results.

 

I cant do a full scan at once, its unregistered. The error I get is cant synch baud rate, so I cant even get to the codes.. Im using a serial cable with a usb to serial converter if that makes any difference, the engine codes work just fine, but thats about it. I tried playing with the settings but still cant get it to work.
