Default Question on Brakes

I notice my brakes suck when driving in wet weather. Lets say if im driving in the rain and I apply the brakes it feels like they are lightly touching the rotors. Based on how far I press the brake pedal the car should be stopping sooner.

In normal weather conditions, the brakes work fine. If i tap the pedal the car stops great.

If this helps; I have stock pads, rotor, the pads have enough meat. 18" rims ( maybe they're heavy as hell ? )

That's exactly what happened with my car. In the rain, it's like the water on the rotors is floating the pads off the discs. I upgraded to the A8 kit and spec'ed the Powerstop upgrade with slotting and drilling, so that the water could be pushed off the rotors by the pads and be evacuated through the drill holes and tossed out the radial vents. It worked too - the car stops like crazy, wet or dry. If you aren't able to swing the A8 upgrade (which I highly recommend you do, even if you have to wait a little longer), you could always order OEM-sized drilled rotors to get the water evacuation. But if you're able now, or will be within reach soon, to get the A8 kit, DO IT. You won't believe the difference it makes. Search my past threads for the one where I described the effect the kit has on this car for more details.

i remember reading your thread when you got them installed. In my accord I had cross drilled/ slotted and they were beyond great. I seen some things on ecstuning that offers different brake upgrade packages but, definitely will upgrade them because its ridicious.. I stay really far behind a car and then have to brake way early.

I had a car with glazed rotors that did the same thing. worked fine in the dry but when it got wet the got all mushy and really had to push the petal to stop.

Sounds just like what happened with me. Ask Hiwords for a second opinon too - he has stock brakes and when he drove my car, he was very impressed with how much stronger the braking is on the A8 brakes. I got mine from ECS, and with the upgraded rotors and Hawk ceramic street pads, it was around $445 or so. Very much worth the money for the increase you get. And they will solve your wet braking problems as well.

same thing happens to me... I think whoever owned my car previously just had the rotors resurfaced a whole bunch of times instead of just buying new ones []... A8 upgrade soon I suppose
