Default Quick auto transmission question

I know that when you change the fluid on the auto transmissions for our cars, it must be done at a specific temperature and that VagCom is used to monitor the transmission temperature so that the fill is done properly. I've also heard that the car must be sitting level when the fill is being done. However, it seems that every time I read such information, it was in reference to a tiptronic transmission. My buddy's 12v non-tip auto has a failing input shaft speed sensor and to change this, we'll need to drain the transmission. Obviously, we're going to put in new fluid and a new filter as well, but I'm wondering whether the transmission temperature monitoring and the leveling of the car is crucial on these older non-tip transmissions as it is on the newer tip trannies. Anyone know for sure?

I've got a friend that has a non-tip AT and he says yes, you need to monitor the temperature if you plan on driving the car within a relatively short time of putting the fluid in. Not sure about the car being level, but it doesn't hurt to be safe.

Cool, thanks guys - wanted to be sure. I agree about getting in with the techs and I do know one here in town. I just haven't had time to buzz him yet. I appreciate the feedback
