ran the check engine codes? questions....
Check engine light came on the other night. It went off after i turned the car off and than on. But anyways went to get the codes ran , and the error that came up from auto zones system was a P1338. only info i could find on it was most likely a Camshaft position sensor??? was wondering if you guys could shed any light on this, and what i need or should do to fix it , or if its a fluke kinda thing happens once than nothing. Thanks for any help.

well if that sensor goes bad, you won't be able to start your car. usually you don't get a warning if it goes bad too. idk what your situation means but pm auditech79
It depends on if the sensor is reading out of limits or just plain fails. I got a CEL last year that turned out to be a cam position sensor, and the car didn't seem to run any differently before or after changing it out. The new sensor fixed the problem and the CEL was turned off permanently, but I never saw a difference in the car's behavior before or after changing it.
Hiwords - why do you have a video of your sister at my house in your sig?

I dont know either, im thinking its a fluke thing, it hasnt came on since, the car doest seem to be running wierd or any different. Just dont have the extra 100 bucks or so to get a new one. i have to do the cv joints first.
Not a bad plan - I would do CVs first also. If they're not too bad, get the reboot kits and try that out - you may not need entire CV joints/axles. If you do, at least you're only out a few bucks for the boot kits, rather than spending the money on new axles, only to find out that you could've rebooted them.
I got my cam sensor at a scrapyard off of a 1.8T engine (I have a 2.8 30v) and it's an identical part. Try classifieds here - there are several cars being parted out and you may be able to buy a cam sensor for a few bucks from someone on there.
