Vagcom - diagnostics
alldata/mitchell - electronic service manuals

Devildub is right about trusting alldata. It got awfully quiet in the garage when we broke off that idler pulley mounting bolt in the A8's cylinder head as a result of following the torque specs listed in alldata. It took a web search to uncover the fact that the specs were reversed for the idler and the tensioner roller, and that was only found due to others doing the same thing and checking with an Audi tech to verify the specs.

But vagcom and alldata have no relation other than both can be used for working on Audis. What they do for you are two very different things.

I guess snaping that bolt was unfortunatly but i used alldata for years for cars rangin from porsche carerra to saturn and i had no problem whatsoever and on thing about me is that i don't belive what anybody sais if i know a thing works i will use'it and for many people in here who want to do some maintenace and save some money on shop fees and time on looking around on the web for answers this software is the best price wise and complexity , i know about Mitchell and bentley but for the average joe that is to big of an expense for an oil change or a timing belt replacement, don't u agree?
