Rear Brake Pads and Rotor Details
Hi, everybody,
I am about to put in new rear pads and rotors on my 2001 B5 Quattro.
I found the great DIY on the subject here:
http://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel2.shtml
But, my Haynes book has this complicated procedure about loosening the parking brake cable, then adjusting it back up when the job is done. Is this necessary? The DIY does not mention that.
Also, is it really necessary to replace the slide pin bolts?
I plan to get a caliper piston compressor tool. Any other advice?
Many thanks,
John

I haven't ever had to mess with the ebrake doing rear brakes on these cars. As for the sliders, clean them up and get them nice and shiny, clean the slider bores with a round brush, grease everything well, and reinstall and there should be no issues.
