Removing two piece headlights????????
I am frustrated with this one. How do you get these suckers out? I see the two torx bolts on top but no other bolts. I have a 1998 a4 1.8t so all of the B6 write-ups or the facelift write-ups are no good to me. Anybody have a picture or something or am I going to have to get dirty and rip the bumper off?
What year is your car? You don't have to remove the bumper if you have a '96. I don't remember what year it started where they put the bolt underneath, but like Aledelic said, it's right between the corner and main piece. It's another torx bolt.
Well I guess I'll give it another go tomorrow when it's light out. I seriously looked for the third torx bolt for 15 min and could not find it. Some say bumper can stay on, CCA4's write up says the bumper has to come off to remove it. I think the bumper will have to come off. Pain the in *** to do that just to change the corner lights.
Wait, are you just taking out the corners? Your posts sounded like the headlights were coming out. They're what are held by the torx bolts. The corners are easy - look behind the corners - the fender framework has a hole in it. Look down in, and you'll see a yellow/white plastic flat piece slid in on the side of the headlight housing. At the rearmost end is an upturned lip that clips against the headlight's guide rail (sounds like Greek but when you see it you'll know it). Push down on that with a screwdriver to pop it free, and pull the corner light straight out forward. Then you'll see the third headlight torx bolt underneath, if those are coming out too.
