Rim Size?
Depends on offset, width, and spoke design but 20s have been done on the B5. Looks ******* retarded though, like the proportions of an old west wagon. I ran 19s and they were definitely the limit to the diameter I would consider to be drivable daily and tasteful.
Seriously, skip them. 18" is a good size for these cars for all-around driving. The 19s worked out for me, although I looked like a drunk driver dodging rough sections of road, and the ride was harsher. 20s are honestly too big for the B5 body. An A6 can pull it off, an A8 looks good on them, but an A4 is just too small to wear them without compromises in ride and drivability, acceleration, braking, etc
he used to own a suv and loved big rims/now has a small car and wants big rims again/ this is his daily driver/ both city and highway/ so would it work or not? besides the fact that it looks funny?
If:
• the roads are nice and smooth
• he's lowered enough to remove the wheel gap
• the offset, spoke design, and width allow them to clear the calipers and fenders
• he doesn't mind being significantly slower in acceleration
• he doesn't mind needing a good amount more distance to stop
• handling isn't a high priority
• he doesn't care if people snicker at the car and call him a tool
...then yes, they can work.
