Default Speed in Snow

It's been snowing pretty steadily here and I drove home through some snowy roads. I'm thinking 2 inches maybe 3...

my question is how fast have you guys driven in snow with your quattro? and in how much snow?

I was driving down a flat road with slight turns, two lanes going about 40 mph and just cruising. Some douche tard in like a 1990 honda civic pulled out of a lot and followed me. He was trying to keep up and I just sped up to 50 mph... not trying to f my car up since this is the first time I've driven it in snow.

How fast have you gone? I'm running some high perf all seasons that are prob 90% tread. lots of grip

um high performance all seasons do not have as much grip in the snow as regular all seasons. the performance if focused for dry weather. you can go pretty fast and still be fine. just be careful because our cars are rly torquey and the rear end like to come out easily. try to keep it at a high gear. practice controlling your car before you start speeding too much. the civic gets it a bit easier since it's following your tracks

depending on the type of snow... that's likely waaaaay too fast if you plan on being able to stop or go around corners that is. esp since you haven't done it much yet. but what do I know I'm living in socal these days.

this is what most people dont get about quattro, you still have the same chance of spinning out or going into the ditch if your just going fast in snow as you would if you had a front tracker.
oh and there is nothing wrong with hondas, and they surprisingly kick *** in snow.

funny you posted this, i was going to a friends house tonight and ended up in a field on the side of the road! i am running a set of winter tires that are almost brand new on a road that was plowed but alot of ice. i was gitting a feel for the roads going about 35 around a soft turn the back end started going and i over corrected alittle bit and hit a dry spot hooked the front end. long stroy short the road went one way and the car went another... its been dark out and i went home so im not 100% sure if anythings wrong.

Quattro allows you to drive at top speed in snowy/icy conditions. Stopping on the other hand......

I haven't had much chance to play in the snow either, hopefully Ghost or theRussian will chime in here, i've heard some snow stories from them.

Only thing i'm gonna add is that while Quattro kicks *** (my sig says so lol), it doesn't give you a free reason to drive like a jackass. Just make sure you stay within your limits. And if you're gonna test yourself and/or your car, at least go someplace where you can't screw up too bad, like a super wal-mart parking lot before they plow it. That way you can drive like a retard and not worry about wrappin your car around a tree in the process

i got some fresh snow up here last night and took the car out for my first test drive in the snow. i have a 98 1.8t quattro...it handles amazingly in the snow...it has new pirelli tires. i was only driving in an inch or two of snow but when i boosted 15psi all four tires broke free in 3rd...i just did that to see if i can break the tires in the snow...it was fun lol. but speeding in the snow is pretty stupid imo...yes our cars have quattro...but all cars pretty much break the same in the snow and if you lock up ur wheels at 50mph in the snow it doesnt matter what kind of tires or traction you have...your gonna slide. especially if your hitting turns in the snow doing 40+, if you hit snow or ice there is still a really good chance of spinning out.

Drive safe bro!
