I was saying to remove the tb and see if it had a metal pump instead of the plastic before ordering parts. Since the dipstick is in the pan, it shouldnt have any effect on the compression test.

You mean see if the water pump has a metal impellar instead of plastic? Gotcha. Thanks.
A heads up to everyone this place has awesome prices on common Audi/vw parts (not sure about their shipping, they are local for me) But $19.95 for the valve cover gaskets is about as good as it gets, even if you tack on $5-$10 for shipping:

Dealer wanted $57!

Cams look good which is a sign of good oil pressure! Cam chain is tight, no slack... Hardly any sign of sludge on top.

I also got a sneak peak at the timing belt. It looks brand new to the naked eye, no cracks or frays. That doesn't tell me anything about the tensioner though...

That gasket was gone. Looks like its in good shape on the inside also. Ecs' valve cover kit i think is $35 so that is a good deal.

I'm picking up the valve cover kit tomorrow for $20 locally at pap-parts.com
Talked to the seller again to try and get once more, a clear recolection of how/when/what happend with the tranny. He said that he was taking off (not launching) from a stop light, he heard a faint clunk and that was it. Most current problem is that the wheel lug lock/adapter thing for the wheels is missing Not sure what I should do if it doesn't turn up.

Thanks for the tip. I've spent the last hour going through and trying my cluster fack of sockets/allen/torx bits anything that uses a 1/2" drive but nothing was working. I just talked to my neighbor who is a Nissan technician. He's going to bring home a universal lug lock key set tomorrow. Thanks again for the help. I was starting to sweat since I'm unable to drive the damn car to a tire shop to get it off. Sort of hard to drop a tranny with the wheels still attatched
They are actually 15 or 16 point spline/star locking lugs. There are like 3 on each wheel! I would NEVER steal these wheels!!!!!

Most of those locks are the same, if you can get it off take a lug to a good tire shop and they will probably have the key for it.

Thanks. Yeah hopefuly that wont be necessary if whatever my neighbor brings home works out. I have replacement lug bolts that I snagged from the dealer when I worked there to use in place of the crap. Just found out I have a burnt out light in the cluster, MPH side. Not a big deal... Right?
