temprature gauge problem

Default temprature gauge problem

hi wonder if anyone could help i just had a load of work done on my audi a4 1997 p reg due to a water pump leak had new cam kit fitted also new rad new water pump and new heater matrix i now seam to have a gauge that starts at 90 degres from cold and goes up while driving any ideas please as the gauge never worked before so i dont know if this is right or not thanks

It sounds like you are talking about your coolant temperature gauge. As your car warms up to operating temperature, the needle should climb to the center of the gauge and stay there. Guessing with all the work that you had done it is something that the shop fixed, or starting working because of what they fixed.

Here in the States, our gauge just goes from L to H. Guess the engineers figured (probably rightly so) that we weren't smart enough to figure it out if they used the actual temperature.

had a new coolent sender fitted and is now working fine thanks for your help
