Thinkin bout buyin a car this weekend - GOOD DEAL?
I am thinking about buying a Audi this weekend. It is a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro. I am pretty sure it has the sports package and it has the winter package. It has 89,000 miles, and is in good shape. The dealer told me that it has just had a timing chain maintenance done. They are asking for $6500. Does this sound like a good deal? What should I look for when I go to see the car? What are some of the things that normally go wrong on Audis? This will be my first Audi so I am not sure. Anything you can tell me or help me with would be great. Thanks.

besides the timing belt, the B5 really only has problems with some suspension parts. rack and pinions are know to go out, wheel bearings, control arms, things like that.
that seems like a really good deal though if the car is in good shape.

Sounds like a great deal if you like the color and it comes fully loaded. Check to make sure the A/C works, all the climate control buttons (some stick sometimes) and radio work, the heated seats work, the headlights/foglights aren't sand-pitted, the tires have good tread, etc...b/c once you buy it, I don't think any lemon laws apply after 7 years. Still, youmight be able toget them to goa bit lower. The more you look at it, the more you'll find things to talk them down on.
