Funny! I have been having probs with my car oil. I just put oil back in and when I looked at the cap it had the same thing. Alittle around the neck too. I hope it is nothing.

That sucks. It appears you may have water in with your oil, possibly coolant. Is your coolant level going down, are you topping it up ? Do an oil change, good synthetic, see if the sludge comes back.

if its cold in your area its normal, it is sludge though, what happening is the car is cold and when turned on forms condensation and eventually mixes with oil, dont rule out the chance it may be coolant leaking into the oil but more than likely its just because of the weather, if your worried pour some sea foam in there and change your after 50-300 miles.

Well, it's been cold here where I am, we've had around 10F overnight (and near Zero last winter).
Clean the cap, drive an hour/ 50 miles, if the sludge is visible on the cap you have an oil problem.

Also dont overlook a pcv problem. If the valve is plugged it can allow moisture from the air to buildup in the crankcase and cause that problem.
