Timing via pistons?
#2
Cylinder 3 (rear passenger side) should be at top dead center. You can look at the tick mark on the crank pulley to verify this. On the heads, you need the cams positioned so that cylinder 3 is on the compression stroke (all valves closed). Reinstall the cam sprockets if they're off (shouldn't be) and rotate them so that the oval brackets on the front of the sprockets are horizontal with the larger of the two holes toward the center of the engine. Reassemble it that way, verify the timing once assembled (there are marks on the cam sprockets), and put the timing belt on. Reverify all the marks again after the belt assembly is done, turn the engine two full revolutions via the crank and a breaker bar. Listen for any piston/valve interference and as long as there is none, you're good to complete the rebuild.
