Not to sound like a dummy, but how can you tell if they are HID's or Xexons

They're one and the same - HID and xenon are interchangeable terms.

But, Xenon is not necessarily HID...

So confused now. I just want to be able to tell if I have HID or Xenon bulbs.

Do you have ballasts? Ballasts are used for HID since you need to bump the 12v of your car to the thousands used in HID.

^ One of the easiest way to tell is to check out the back part of the headlights. If there's a little warning saying something about "high watt/voltage" then you have the stock Xenons from Audi.

A typical HID has a flash at startup, followed by the light getting brighter over the course of several seconds. Halogens just turn on. Also - turn on low and high beams - if tge color of the light is basically tge same, you have halogens. If the low beans are noticeably whiter/bluer/brighter, they're HID.
