Default Tranny Swap

I have a '98 2.8 A4 Quattro, it's a 5 speed, and I was wondering if swapping the tranny out for a 6 speed S4 tranny would be feasible. If so, where would I be able to acquire said tranny?

Would it have to be from a similar year? Or will it work with any S4 tranny?

You need additional parts... You might be able to search and find it right now I'm looking for it but yeah it's not a straight bolt job.

From what i've found by searching for you

You will need all the following 6spd components:

Transmission
Driveshaft
Shifter and its linkages
(Maybe the driveaxles too, but I dont think so)
And rear diff + drive shaft The rear diff isnt necessary.BUT you wont have the EXACT gearing as a factory equipped 6spd car. But the 6th gear, regardless, will still drop the RPM's

There was a DIY but can't seem to locate at this time

Since you own a 2.8 you shouldn't have a problem with the driverside transmission mount since the subframe on the 2.8 is like the S4 subframe which are different then the 1.8t subframe.
