After a discussion with a friend about S4-RS4 conversion in EuroTuner we got to wondering about the tranny of my A4 (2001 1.8t QMS), will the shaft line up on the tranny if you attempted to use the tranny off of another Audi....B6, B7, TT, S series....hopefully you get the idea, 4 cyl-6cyl, 5 or 6 speed, whatever. We realize adapter plates may be required but were curious what options if any were available, or if anyone has ever looked into this before. Lets hear your thoughts and opinions, thanks.

I forgot I was at the Audi forum and when I first read the word "tranny"...i went wtf....

To be honest; swapping a tranny is pricey and in the end probably not worth it. Best bet would be to attempt to get a manual and sell your current car.

the 5 speed out of the 2.8 works bolts directly up. it has taller gears than the 1.8t. you can swap a s4 6 speed in. here's the parts list for accomplishing that- http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...tnumbers-1.jpg

2001 1.8t QMS, to help you out a little there the q is for quattro, m is for MANUAL (5spd), and s is for the sport package, coincidentally I also have the cold weather and celebration packages, so needless to say I'm not selling my car. I also understand a tranny swap may be expensive, but I'm just curious what possibities lie out there.
