Default trubo only pushing 5psi

sup guys i felt my car a little sluggish and the top end, so i pulled the boost gauge off the race car and ghetto rigged it on the a4. i did numerous pulls and they all maxed out at 5 lbs. i read in other forums that stock boost is 8psi if this is incorrect please chime in thanks. the vehicle has always been service at the dealer and on time i just purchased the car 2 days ago and i am the second owner the original owner babied the car

Do a boost leak check. Could be something as easy as a hose fell off or a bad check valve.

5psi is safety boost.

Correct. 5psi on a stock tune is limp mode. When in limp the ECU just leaves the N75 wide open so the pressure goes directly to the WG actuator which happens to have a 5psi spring. If the N75 fails this will be the same result.

The stock DV is plastic and not rebuild-able. I don't know that there would be any way to know that it was bad just by looking at it.

FWIW I have a spare DV if you end up needing one. Just PM me your address and I'll drop it in the mail.
