trying to scan my car for codes

Default trying to scan my car for codes

my friend let me borrow his scanner, its brand new and works i tryed it on my truck. i cant seem to get it to work on my a4. i called autozone they said its the right one but everytime i try it, it says link error. i turn the ignition on and plug it in. it says reading... then it say link error. anyone know whats going on?

Alright, very noob response here, but plug it in, then turn the key? IDK, just a poke in the dark...

yeah im having the same problem. check the diagnostic fuse in the fuse panel.
