For starters I have a 1999.5 A4 1.8T 5spd Quattro.

I'm looking at getting it tuned, place neer me says they will hook I up, tune it for $350. But I'm not sure what the tune does. Friend of mine says it bumps the car up to 18psi and turns it into a wild animal.
But another friend of mine says that's impossible to get it to 18psi without swapping out the DV.
So whom is correct?? I don't want to spend the $$ if it doesn't boost me up without buying more parts. Or should I just look into getting a different DV?

 

A new upgraded DV is needed for a chipped car. The stock one can't hold the boost. Get one from Krauto Parts - excellent price. It's the same as a $160 Forge DV but around half the price. Put that in and get the tune and you'll really like it. The car wakes up for sure.
