Turbo 2.8L 30V?
Hello,
Well I was visiting my house in Port Saint Lucie, FL over the weekend and was taking pics of what my dad has in the garage (he used to work as a mechanic in FL, but now we're all in NY). Low and behold I found a pair of K03's, I think they might need rebuilding since they had little play but housing was good and it was complete with the wastegate. I had forgotten about these turbo's but if I remember correctly they were pulled from a 2.7L S4 with a blown head. What would it take to adapt these to a 2.8L besides the custom exhaust mount, custom piping, intercooler and BOV? Does anyone make an exhaust mount for these cars? Would a S4 exhaust manifold/ downpipe work? I would think the head gasket might need to be changed to a thicker one to lower compression and maybe an ECU flash for better power handling. The 2.8L engine bay virtually has no space, but I think people have been able to custom mount turbo's near the top of the engine. Thanks for your suggestions.

And if you wanted to run over 12 psi; forged internals. http://www.importperformanceparts.ne...pek-eaudi.html see very bottom of page

Tons of past threads about this in search. Lots of money to make power that's worth the effort, lots of dyno time to custom tune since no tunes are available for purchase, and a lot of trial and error but you can do it with enough work, time, effort, and money.

Umm... what about the S4? Audi's already made it work, how much heavier will a turbo'd 2,8 30V be, if indeed it will be heavier?

Will adding FI to the 2.8 add that much weight? Probably not. But every little bit hurts. I'd run stiffer suspension, maybe S4 parts. Preferrably aftermarket though.
All that said, I'd rather have a correctly tuned 2.8T over a 2.8.

hmm, excellent point ^. By the time you rebuilt the (possibly both) turbo(s), paid for the fabrication, custom tune, dyno time, etc. you probably could have paid for a PES SC twice. Another good point was the forged internals, add that to the cost and i think it'd be more trouble than its worth.
