turbo oil leak?
So I brought my car into shop and they are telling me that my turbo is leaking oil a lot. I asked if it was from feed line and they said yes. Would I need to replace my turbo or whats the deal on fixing this. I asked the guy and he said he would have to look into it and see about rebuilding it. any suggestions? I can probably find a used turbo around my area. Just wondering if yall think this will fix the problem or what will need to be done. Also I was wondering, he said my water pump is leaking but nothing on my car was taken apart. How could he tell this. Im kind of leary of this shop and am thinking they just want my money. any help would be great from anyone.
if the oil feed line is leaking, why would they need to replace the turbo? the only reason for that would be if the turbo is leaking from the seals or maybe the oil connection on the turbo got damaged beyond repair. or the leak caused the turbo to loose oil pressure and burn up.
if you really need to replace the turbo used ones can be had for $150 or so.
you can see the water pump if you put the car on a lift. if you have second thoughts about a shop, just go somewhere else.

what year is your car?
if its from the feed line, you don't need to replace the turbo, go to a dealership or ecstuning.com and get a some gaskets and crushwashers. spend like $20. its pretty simple....if your mechanicly incline.
also, if your waterpump is leaking, the 2001 has an internal pump, **** needs to be removed to check that out. if its a 2000 and lower, its external waterpump and can be seen by lifting up the car.
