Default Upper control arm question

So I have read on many diy's to unbolt the control arm plate from inside the engine bay. But I'm soldering is that going to undo the strut? I really don't wanna mess with that.

No, there are two additional nuts that secure the strut to the plate.

Ok now that I am working on this, how the hell do I get the plate to move? I have undone all three of the bolts and tugged on that thing like there is no tomorrow but I cannot get it to budge... Is there something I am doing wrong?

If you have the bottom of the strut free, pull down hard. There's a guide pin up there that sticks through the CA plate and makes it a pain to remove.

I do not have the bottom of the strut undone... I am just replacing the uppers, and I didnt want to go through all that mess.

Bottom of the strut is only one bolt. If you leave it anchored and try to pull the mount downward, you're trying to compress the spring by hand - it'll never happen. Pull the strut bolt and dismount the strut. It should make life easier.

No because the shock/spring come out together.
