or the strut...

Yes, it was dumb to drive with a TOOL still in the suspension! But we all do stupid things. I've done much worse!

Turn the strut piston via the nut on the top. Look for a wobble in the piston, it may be bent.

If it's bent, remove the strut assembly and start inspecting the mount.

That would explain the clack over bumps, but what about braking? Could be that somehow the torsion put onto the spindle reacts up through the stut?

Well, when you brake, you shift the weight of the vehicle forward. The front suspension compresses, even if just slightly.

hapens with summer or winter wheels (rim and tire)

had brakes checked out working fine/no warpage (A8 upgrade)

my front sway arms end links are dead ( foun out when car was on lift for brake insp) new ones not installed yet..... shouldn't have affect on braking

Default In the same boat.

Has anyone been able to solve the last and first comment on the vibrating braking? I know at least one of my control arms are shot, but like hb972.8q said I wouldn't think that would cause the ABS to kick in. Like others have posted it's not at higher speeds this happens, it's when going over bumpy road or (for me) when I'm braking and turning right. I'm also having a lot of brake squeal. I admit I went with low-mid end pads but I didn't think they'd be that squeaky. I had the rotors turned and put anti-squeak on the pads too.

I replaced the rears and had them resurfaced but don't hear a peep from them via e-brake. I'll try cleaning the sensors and re-torquing the lugs tonight. Thanks all!
