I just got my A4 about a month ago, and I love it! But it came with some pretty rough front and rear bumpers. Before I bouthg it the rear was involved in a light collision and some of the paint has spiderwebbed and there is very light body damage. The front has a 3-4" gouge in it that was touched up with paint, but it is.... well ugly.

My local body shop wants $1000 to pull the front and rear bumpers and refinish them.

But I've been reading on the forums and see that some people are putting on the S4 front bumper, and I think it looks worlds better! But can I also get an S4 rear bumper to fit with no problems? I have a 2000 1.8t quattro, and I am looking to buy this rear bumper http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...Q5fAccessorieshttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-01...Q5fAccessories

The bonus is that this is already the same color as my car.... and I know it might not be a match and I'd have to repsray anyway. Will this fit no problems? And if so I will get an S4 front... the only remaining problem would be that my A4 lowers are not color matched. Suggestions?

The front and rear bumpers are a direct replacement. That rear will color match your car too. The pre-99.5 model year A4 silver is bluer than yours (it's paint code is LY7M and you and the S4 have LY7W silver). Your grilles and foglights will not work on the S4 front end - you need S4-specific parts for that. As for the sides, find a set of S4 sideskirts, or paint your lower trim yourself - my sig pic shows my DIY lower paint (I did all the way around). It's not terribly difficult if you can't find the S4 side skirts.

S4 bumper is a direct bolt on to the base A4. You'll need new lower grills and fog lights to fit in the S4 bumper, but all the other hardware is reuseable. Good luck!

I'm going to order the bumper then! Thanks for the input.

Any good ideas on picking up an S4 front bumper? (I'll check ebay obviously)

Check the classifieds on www.VWVortex.com and www.Audizine.com - they have the most diverse and active classifieds of the Audi forums. Vortex in particular is huge.

An RS4 rep bumper also works and looks great - search for posts by tware4021 on this forum. His sig pic shows the RS4 bumper on his Avant.

RS4 requires different bumper struts and some massaging to fit correctly. Plus, they are usually more expensive. S4 is a direct fit.

The genuine RS4 bumper may, as well as needing to be narrowed, but I'm pretty sure the replica is made to bolt right up - I don't recall Tyler needing new struts to mount his.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll check the two webforums for an S4 direct fit.. If I can't find one, I'm considering this http://tinyurl.com/3vpw7qz . I've always hated fiberglass bumpers, and would have never considered one. They aren't like urethane or factory bumpers. But this duraflex stuff seems pretty durable and can withstand tensile strain. Any thoughts on this material? Anyone have any experience with it?
