Weak AM - Marginal FM
I had my rear window resealed because it was leaking and ever since, the radio has been weak. The FM is marginal but I get most stations. The AM is very weak and I only get very strong stations.
All wires are soldered to the windshield, amplifiers are connected, rear window defogger works. I checked continuity across soldered connections, and across the thin red lines in the glass, and everywhere else I could think of.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any good diagnostic web sites? If I took it somewhere, where? Dealer, audio place, Audi repair shop?
Any advice would be appreciated.

to my own thread. There are other instances of situations like mine with Audis. My search of this forum did not turn them up even though some are here.
I plan to continue my continuity checks, look in EKTA for info on what parts do, make sure my head unit is not set to "local" rather that "dx" and replace one "amplifier" with one from the junk yard.
Stay tuned and, as always, any advice will be appreciated.

I am making progress and eliminating things. My next move is to replace the left upper "amplifier" and the left two coax cable pair from the junkyard. I put amplifier in quotes as I think they are noise suppressors. There is something that looks like an amplifier in the trunk.
I seek AM for Dave Ramsey. Otherwise, I'm an NPR man.
But in my case this is a change. It was much better before the rear window was taken out and resealed.

If you read the audio book in the owners manual pouch, I believe it has a solution for this issue built into the audio system itself......but I have the Symphony version. Not sure about the others. Give it a look though. It's worth a shot.
I am going to try replacing both the upper left amplifier and the coax cable from the junk yard.
Stay tuned, pun intended.
