Default weird fuel gauge issue

I have a 99 audi a4 1.8t quattro. The fuel gauge is baffling me. When the tank is full it will read full until it gets to about 3/4 tank, then it gets odd. Once at 3/4 tank it will sometimes drop to completely empty, it goes to empty completely random. Once the car gets to half a tank it only reads properly when i rev the car up.. weird right?

so basicaly it reads good till about half a tank tp 3/4 ish, then only starts to read randomly or when its revved up..
once it gets lower than half it just drops dead and im left clueless

if anyone has any ideas please let me know!!
thankss

fuel level sending unit: a little wire broke on it and needs to be replaced and re-soldered. there was a diy somewhere out there, probably the easiest job you will ever do on your audi. buy a little piece of wire around 1" long and solder it on there or you can just buy a new fuel level sending unit which will cost you over $100 LOL
