Question Weird light in the information display...

Hello,

So here I was, driving my car to work this morning when I heard a beep. I was like WTF? Then I spotted the yellow round light on my driver information display. The car still felt normal but I'm worried about what it means. I looked in the manual and the only ones that look like it are the Brake Light, except mine doesn't have the symbol in the middle. Also, I need to replace my front tires real bad, could the car have a sensor in it or something? Thanks for your help.

Ya that looks like the brake light, also looks like you're startin to lose pixels in that display, which is probably why the middle of the light is MIA. As far as I know there's no "Replace your tires" sensor, but if the tires are bald maybe the brake pads are junk too? Do you have access to an OBDII scanner or VAG-com? Whenever a light like that goes on there's also a code stored to go with it, being able to read that code might help you figure out why the light came on.

Yes I have Vagcom 409, only code I'm throwing as of yesterday afternoon is the TB "error in basic settings" which everyone seems to get when a TB alignment needs to be done, I haven't gotten around to it because I want to take it apart this weekend and clean it with some TB cleaner. I'll have to query the instrument display tonight to see what's going on. As far as my display those dead pixels are starting to drive me nuts, but I'm also trying to save some money for the tires and exterior body work. I'm probably going to send it to Module Masters. Thanks.

I hear they do really good work, and its totally worth the money if you're willing to drive around w/ your instrument cluster in pieces for a week or two

It's a brake pad wear sensor warning. Your brake pads are worn beyond the sensor or you have a bad sensor.

Yep, and there are sensors only in the front so visually check your rear pads as well.
