On Friday night I began the task of replacing my clutch/flywheel/throwout bearing, without the use of a trans. jack and with my high flow cat in place (downpipe removed). Went from ~5:30pm til 6:30am. Slept for 4 hours, and put in another 6 hours. Went to start it, and the starter wouldn't spin - and I didn't remove the starter (just the starter bolts). Turns out I had pinched one of the wires going to the starter between the trans. bell housing and engine, so it was shorting directly to ground. Spent 5 hours diagnosing/fixing that, 'cuz I removed the AC compressor (without taking off the front end), starter, loosened the tranny mounts, and had to slide the tranny about 3/16" away from the engine.

Replacing the clutch is definitely not a fun job (I spent 23 hours total ), but if I were to do it again it wouldn't take more than half as much time.

And now I'm relearning to drive stick... the new clutch engages below the halfway point, whereas the old one engaged pretty close to the top. It also engages more harshly so the car jerks harder. Yipee...

Little August came a few weeks early. Not even a snowstorm could prevent the old B5 from picking him up at the hospital. I love my car

It's the best transport for special cargo such as that.

Congrats, OD, he looks just like you!

Oh man, if he's your first, your life is about to change like you wouldn't believe. Don't worry, you'll get back to being able to sleep after he turns four or so.
