What did you do to your B5 today?
the paint on the block is holding up great. even around the exhaust manifold it isnt burning off. unfortunately the stuff on the valve cover is kind of cracking a little. might have to touch that up soon
At 3am this morning I finished some stuff:
-mounted Tein front springs to Koni front shocks with new bumpstops and upper rubber mount, and installed them on my car
-installed 034 block breather, which is hooked up to my catch can, and the catch can is hooked up to the pancake valve (no more idle issue!)
-installed a new turbo-to-mani gasket, and had a major scare (at 1am
) when one of the turbo-to-mani studs nearly got stuck in the turbo (which could have snapped the stud)

(yesterday) I diagnosed the problem with my AC/ heater blower, found a replacement at VW/Audi mecca ( Austin VeeDub), replaced it, and now my blower works all the time... no more 104+ degree days without AC! Now that's a win!
Well, it was a productive evening for me.
I started off by removing some of stickers in the engine bay. A little goo gone and it helped clean up the bay just a bit more. Tomorrow I'm planning on continuing to detail the bay, including a wax of the exposed paint in the bay.
I also started to tackle getting my carbonio intake properly secured so I could ditch the zip ties that are currently holding it in place. Worked for an hour or two getting a spacer bar of 3/8" aluminum cut and drilled to mount the cover to the heat shield.
As I was buttoning the car back up for the evening I saw the cause of all my problems (the cover not fitting onto the heat shield.) I just had to move the MAF grommet and wires over to the side and bam, everything lines up. Love it when that happens.
Tomorrow I'll pick up some screws and rubber washers and get that baby locked down.
While I had the MAF out I also gave it a quick clean along with my intake filter.
I also decided to plan long term for a full CF engine cover, not the little coil pack cover I got from 034 I have now. I'll have to fab up some mounts for the CF cover, but I'm already going to have to custom mount the coil pack cover I currently have. *Shrug...nothing ever fits correctly on my 97, so it goes!
That was my evening. Time to play some StarCraft 2 until 3am! Anyone else play?
