fixed my awesome light switch again. twice in 6 months, but free other than time. Got to love the Germans - design these great high-performance cars (well, my 911 was anyway, A4 V6 - not so much ;-) ) - and then put these rinky-dink light circuits. The 911's are the same way, though not quite as much of a failure problem as my audi light switch. Oh well, back in service again!

The easy fix for this is to install relays behind the headlights. Use the low beam wire as the trigger to the relay, supply it with power and ground and run wire from the relay's switched leg to the low beam. That way you only draw 20-30mA through that plastic slider instead of full lamp current of several amps. It'll keep the heat away and the slider won't melt and warp.

Started shaving my spare valve cover yesterday, I never realized how much random useless bullshit was all over these things. There's holes and posts and casting marks all over the place. I'm gonna need to pick up a flap wheel for my grinder, I don't think the dremel is gonna do it.

Just use the engle grinder I dont think flapper wheels get casting marks as effectively as the grinder would. Flappers are for paint removal and things of that nature correct?

I may have used the wrong term. At the machine shop I used to work at, we called this a flap wheel:

My angle grinder currently has a cutoff wheel on it. I found out the hard way that using the long edge of a cutoff wheel is marginally effective at best, right up until when it frags and throws hot chunks of itself in every direction.

never use a cutoff wheel for anything other than cutting, as you have learned. I thoughts thats what you were referring to. SHould work. looks deadly as **** What color?

is there a write-up for that on here somewhere. I ddi a similar thing for my 911, but have not looked close enough at the A4 yet.
